Official Statement from the BDFS Federation

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our revered Grandmaster and Head of the BDFS Federation, Soke Stoffel Van Vuuren.

Soke Van Vuuren was a towering figure in the world of martial arts — a true master, teacher, and visionary who dedicated his life to the pursuit of excellence, discipline, and the spirit of Budo. His legacy has shaped generations of martial artists and inspired a global community that will forever carry forward his teachings.

In accordance with his wishes and in recognition of his lifelong dedication to the art and the federation, we are honoured to announce that his son, Shihan Jacques Van Vuuren has been formally bestowed the title of Dai-Soke. He will now assume leadership of the BDFS Federation as its new head, continuing the work his father so passionately began.

We stand united in grief and in strength, and we remain committed to upholding the values and traditions that Soke Van Vuuren championed throughout his life.

May his memory be eternal, and may his legacy continue to guide us on the path of honour and discipline.
